Agencies join forces for holiday road safety campaign

By Belize Live News Staff: Several law enforcement and community agencies came together today, Tuesday, December 23, 2025, to carry out a No Drink and Drive campaign aimed at improving road safety during the busy holiday season.

The campaign was led by personnel from the National Drug Abuse Control Council (NDACC), the Healthy Caribbean Coalition of Belize (HECOPAB), Punta Gorda Traffic Wardens, Community Oriented Policing units, and Road Policing officers. The joint effort focused on educating road users about the dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol.

Officers interacted with drivers and pedestrians, distributing informational pamphlets and sharing key safety messages. The outreach encouraged motorists to plan ahead, avoid impaired driving, and look out for fellow road users as travel activity increases during the festive period.

Officials involved in the campaign stressed that community engagement plays a vital role in preventing traffic accidents and saving lives. They noted that initiatives such as this help reinforce responsible behavior and strengthen awareness of road safety laws throughout the holiday celebrations.
