By Belize Live News Staff: Police in the Orange Walk District are investigating an alleged domestic assault after a woman reported being attacked by her former common-law partner inside her home on Sunday morning.
According to police, the woman told investigators that the incident occurred around 10:30 a.m. while she was preparing food in her kitchen. An argument reportedly began over household matters and later escalated when the man entered the kitchen and became aggressive.
The woman alleged that she was slapped, choked, and pushed against a cement wall, causing her to suffer injuries. She reported that the man continued verbally abusing her before leaving the area.
Police said the woman sought medical attention and was issued medico-legal forms, with a doctor later certifying her injuries as wounding. Statements were recorded from the complainant and a witness.
The matter remains under investigation.
