Teen on motorcycle left for dead after hit-and-run near Guinea Grass

By Belize Live News Staff: Police are investigating a traffic incident that left a 19-year-old deliveryman hospitalized after he crashed while trying to avoid an oncoming vehicle near the entrance of Guinea Grass Village.

Officers visited the Northern Regional Hospital where John Carlos Urbina, a Belizean delivery worker, reported that around 1:30 p.m. he was traveling from Orange Walk Town toward Guinea Grass on his red Zanella motorcycle when a white pickup coming from the opposite direction took a wide curve and entered his lane.

To avoid being struck, Urbina swerved to the far right, causing him to lose control and fall from the motorcycle. He sustained head swelling, abrasions to the forehead, and severe pain to the upper body and back.

Doctors have listed Urbina in stable condition, but he remains admitted for observation. Police confirmed he is the holder of a valid motorcycle license. Documents for the motorcycle are still pending as the investigation continues.
