Knife pulled at village store; shop worker uses chips box to defend himself

By Belize Live News Staff: A routine afternoon in Guinea Grass turned violent on Saturday when a man allegedly pulled a knife at the entrance of Yi Li Store and attempted to stab the store’s attendant.

Police say the shop worker was standing at the doorway around 12:35 p.m. when Rojeri Batun approached, drew a large knife, and lunged at him. The attendant grabbed a chips box to block the blow, but the knife still grazed his right forearm, leaving a noticeable cut.

Officers issued medico forms and advised him accordingly. Police immediately searched for the suspect at a nearby residence, but he had already fled.

Residents say the incident unfolded quickly, leaving many shaken. Police are searching for Batun as the investigation continues.
