Police investigating aggravated assault after victim claims firearm was drawn during argument

By Belize Live News Staff: Police are investigating after a Belize City man reported that he was assaulted and threatened with what looked like a firearm during a confrontation in Belama Phase 3 on Thursday evening.

The 31-year-old security officer said he went to deliver medication for his son at a residence on Apollo Street when an argument erupted between him and his brother. He stated that one of the men present approached and punched him in the face.

The victim further reported that the same man then brandished a black object resembling a firearm and pointed it at his leg, causing him to fear he would be harmed. He immediately retreated from the yard.

Police have taken a formal statement and are working to verify the details and identify the weapon reportedly used in the incident.
