By Belize Live News Staff: A domestic dispute in Belize City early Monday morning left a female police officer seriously injured and her partner, a Coast Guard officer, detained. Police say they responded to a call around 5:00 a.m. reporting a disturbance at a residence on Gibnut Street. When officers arrived, they were met by a male occupant who guided them to a room inside the home.
There, officers found the police constable lying semi-conscious with several apparent stab wounds. Emergency personnel transported her to the KHMH, where doctors managed to stabilize her condition.
Police officials confirmed that one male person has been detained in connection with the stabbing and is expected to face charges pending the outcome of the investigation. They declined to release the victim’s name, citing privacy considerations and the ongoing case.
Officials say they will provide updates as soon as charges are formally brought.
