Big win for Belize tourism as new agreement signed with Saudi Arabia

By Belize Live News Staff: Belize’s Tourism Ministry has wrapped up a productive week at the 26th UN Tourism General Assembly in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where government and private-sector leaders worked together to advance Belize’s position in global tourism diplomacy.

The Belize delegation participated in sessions addressing innovation, sustainability, tourism investment, and global tourism data frameworks. Officials say these engagements are vital as Belize modernizes its tourism sector and aims to strengthen its global brand.

A major development during the visit was the signing of a Cooperation Agreement between Belize and Saudi Arabia, focused on exchanging expertise in marketing, tourism promotion, statistics, and sustainable development strategies. The agreement is expected to support Belize’s long-term goals for diversification and innovation within its tourism industry.

The Belize team, which included leaders from the Ministry of Tourism, BTB, and BTIA, also met with the Saudi Fund for Development to explore future collaboration opportunities.

Tourism officials say Belize’s involvement at the Assembly underscores a unified national strategy: building productive partnerships, increasing visibility in international markets, and ensuring the private sector benefits from emerging global opportunities.
