Opposition Leader Panton rebukes false social media claims

By Belize Live News Staff: Leader of the Opposition and United Democratic Party (UDP) leadership candidate Tracy Taegar Panton has issued a strong public statement addressing recent social media reports which she described as “false and mischievous.”

In her post, Panton stated that these online claims are “nothing more than desperate political propaganda” aimed at creating confusion and disunity within the UDP. She asserted that such tactics are designed to distract from the real issues facing the Belizean people.

Panton emphasized that there is no division within the Movement for Change, noting that those spreading rumors are “not acting in the best interest of the UDP or Belize.” She reaffirmed her commitment to uniting, rebuilding, and restoring trust among party members and the Belizean public.

“As Leader of the Opposition, and soon to be UDP Party Leader, my focus remains steadfast on strengthening our team, preparing for the UDP National Leadership Convention, and presenting a clear, credible alternative to governance,” she said.

Panton called on supporters to remain “united, disciplined, and determined to win,” reaffirming that the UDP will not be distracted by gossip, lies, or political theatrics as it works to regain the people’s confidence.
