Bush hog malfunction turns deadly in Blue Creek; one man dead

By Belize Live News Staff: A man from the Blue Creek Community in Orange Walk is dead following what authorities are calling a “freak accident” involving farm equipment.

The incident was reported on Wednesday morning, November 12.

Initial information suggests a tractor, commonly called a bush hog, was being used to mow bushes when it developed a mechanical problem. The victim, a Mennonite man, reportedly went to inspect the machine’s blades to assess the issue.

While he was inspecting the equipment, a blade allegedly broke free, striking him with massive force in his chest and head area.

An ambulance from the Northern Regional Hospital was dispatched to the scene, but the man’s injuries were too severe. He succumbed to his wounds while being transported to the hospital.

Police were on the scene and have launched an investigation into the fatal incident.
