45 CARICOM nationals arrive in Belize under new free movement arrangement

By Belize Live News Staff: The Government of Belize, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade, Culture and Immigration, has reported that since the launch of the CARICOM Free Movement arrangement on October 1, 2025, a total of 45 CARICOM nationals have arrived in Belize exercising their right to full free movement.

According to the Ministry of Immigration, the arrivals include 34 Barbadians, 8 Vincentians, and 3 Dominicans. These individuals have entered Belize primarily for business, tourism, employment, sports, and diplomatic purposes.

Data shows that 33 of the arrivals came for business-related activities, while others arrived for employment (2), tourism (5), sports (3), diplomatic (1), and returning national (1) purposes.

The Ministry emphasized that this new phase of regional mobility reflects the ongoing success of CARICOM’s integration efforts, allowing citizens of member states to move, live, and work freely across the region.

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Francis Fonseca, in his recent address to Parliament, said that the free movement arrangement “promotes balanced mobility and economic growth,” underscoring Belize’s commitment to deepening Caribbean unity.

Officials have assured that immigration systems are working smoothly to process entrants and that Belize continues to fulfill its obligations under the CARICOM Single Market and Economy (CSME) framework.
