Elderly woman found dead at home in Burrell Boom; investigation underway

By Belize Live News Staff: Police have launched an investigation into the death of a 72-year-old woman in Burrell Boom Village, Belize District, after she was discovered with cut wounds to her legs early Thursday morning.

Authorities identified the victim as Linda Morgan, a resident of the Fresh Pond community. According to ASP Stacy Smith, police were called to Morgan’s home around 3:00 a.m. on October 23, where they found her unresponsive in the bathroom.

“Police are investigating the death of 72-year-old Linda Morgan… her body exhibited cut wounds to the leg,” said ASP Smith. “Forensic unit personnel were summoned, and police have secured several exhibits as the investigation continues.”

ASP Smith added that there were no signs of forced entry, but officers are collecting statements from individuals who may have relevant information. Morgan reportedly did not live alone.

Her body has been transported for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.

Police have not ruled out foul play and continue to treat the matter as a death investigation.
