San Felipe says goodbye to Angelita Magaña and her two children

By Belize Live News Staff: San Felipe Village in Orange Walk is in mourning as it lays to rest Angelita Magaña and her children Tishan and Shadia, who were killed in a devastating house fire believed to have been intentionally set.

Police have identified Francisco Godoy, Angelita’s former partner and an ex-convict recently released from prison, as the suspect. Investigators say Godoy used gasoline to ignite the home, killing Angelita and her two children.

The tragedy has sparked a national outcry for stronger measures to prevent domestic violence and protect women at risk. Across Belize, educators, students, and activists are calling for urgent reforms, describing the incident as a grim reminder of the cost of inaction.

The Ministry of Health and Wellness and the Cabinet have condemned the attack, reaffirming their commitment to addressing gender-based violence at every level of society.
