Meteorologists monitoring potential system in the Eastern Caribbean

By Belize Live News Staff: The National Meteorological Service of Belize (NMS) is closely monitoring a tropical wave currently located near the Windward Islands, which continues to generate a large area of showers and thunderstorms. According to forecaster Michelle Augustine, gradual development of this system is possible during the upcoming week once it moves into the Caribbean Sea.

At this time, the tropical wave does not pose any immediate threat to Belize. However, the NMS advises residents to remain alert and stay informed, as conditions in the Caribbean can change rapidly this time of year. October is historically one of the most active months for tropical systems in the region, and forecasters will be keeping a close eye on this disturbance’s progress.

While no warnings or watches are in effect, the system’s moisture could contribute to scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms over Belize in the coming days. The NMS assures the public that updates will be issued as necessary if the system shows signs of further development.

Forecasters remind the public that the Atlantic hurricane season continues until November 30, and preparedness should remain a priority. Belize has experienced late-season tropical activity in past years, underscoring the importance of ongoing vigilance.
