By Belize Live News staff: A tragic accident in Shipyard Village, Orange Walk District, has claimed the life of 14-year-old Enrique Braun, who died after being crushed by several doors while at work on Monday morning, October 13, 2025.
According to police, the incident occurred around 8:45 a.m. at WJ’s Doors, a local business establishment. Reports indicate that Enrique and another worker were cleaning doors when the stacked items fell unexpectedly, fatally injuring the teenager.
Authorities arrived at the Northern Regional Hospital, where they found Enrique unresponsive. Police have since processed the scene, taken statements, and launched a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
ASP Stacy Smith, Staff Officer to the Commissioner, described the case as a “freak workplace incident”, noting that investigators are reviewing workplace safety protocols and the sequence of events that led to the tragedy.
Enrique’s body now lies at the Northern Regional Hospital morgue, awaiting a post-mortem examination.
