By Belize Live News Staff: Belize has welcomed its first seven CARICOM nationals from Barbados under the recently launched Free Movement initiative, marking an important step toward deeper regional integration.
According to government officials, the arrivals took place between October 1st and 8th, with five individuals entering for business purposes and two arriving as tourists.
The initiative, introduced under the CARICOM Single Market and Economy (CSME) framework, allows eligible citizens from CARICOM member states to move freely for work, business, and leisure within the region.
Authorities say this milestone reflects Belize’s commitment to strengthening regional mobility, trade, and cooperation, creating more opportunities for economic growth and cultural exchange.
Officials also noted that the successful arrival of the first group sets the tone for greater participation and movement among Caribbean citizens in the months ahead.
