By Belize Live News Staff: The Belize City community will come together tonight to remember and celebrate the life of Kenneth “Big Tom” Flowers, a man whose journey from the streets to promoting peace left a lasting mark on many.
A candlelight vigil will be held at 7:00 p.m. near the Civic Center, only a few steps from his family home. Friends, relatives, and community members are expected to gather, candles in hand, to pay tribute to the 47-year-old who was gunned down Monday evening while driving his vehicle.
“Big Tom” was once a familiar figure in Belize City’s rougher circles but had since become known for his efforts to uplift young people and promote positivity, especially through music and community outreach.
Despite a past marked by legal troubles, including acquittals for murder in Belize in 2002 and in the U.S. in 2010, Flowers returned home determined to support local artists and advocate for peace. His life, while complex, symbolized resilience and redemption, earning him the respect of many who will gather tonight to keep his memory alive.
