Tropic Air and SJCJC strengthen partnership to empower Belize’s next aviation leaders

By Belize Live News Staff: Tropic Air and Saint John’s College Junior College (SJCJC) have renewed their partnership through the Howell Grange Aviation Scholarship, reaffirming their commitment to supporting Belize’s growing aviation industry and cultivating the next generation of skilled professionals.

The scholarship, named after Captain Howell Grange, honors his heroism and lifelong contribution to Belizean aviation. Sponsored by Tropic Air, it provides half of tuition and fees for two years to deserving students who demonstrate academic excellence and passion for aviation.

This year’s award was presented to Abner Tun, a standout SJCJC graduate who achieved a 3.71 GPA and specialized in Aviation Management. Abner will now pursue his Bachelor’s Degree in the same field at SJC University.

Representatives from Tropic Air and SJCJC expressed pride in the scholarship’s impact, noting that it not only supports higher education but also strengthens Belize’s human resource base in the aviation sector.

The Howell Grange Aviation Scholarship reflects a shared belief between the airline and the institution that education is the runway to opportunity, and investing in Belizean talent ensures the skies remain open for innovation and progress.
