Foreign Minister willing to take petition to remove Israeli visa waiver to Cabinet

By Belize Live News Staff: Foreign Minister Francis Fonseca has indicated his willingness to present a citizen-led petition calling for the removal of the visa waiver for Israeli passport holders to Cabinet for further consideration.

The petition, launched by the recently formed solidarity group Liberation 9/21, has already gathered over 300 signatures. Fonseca stated that if a petition originates from citizens of Belize, the Ministry has a responsibility to give respect to that request and review it carefully.

He explained that while the Ministry of Foreign Affairs can provide advice, the ultimate decision on whether to remove the visa waiver rests with Cabinet. Fonseca emphasized that more detailed discussions with the foreign affairs team will be necessary before any firm position is taken.
