21-year-old Belmopan resident faces manslaughter charge after shooting

Belmopan woman granted $9K bail in shooting death of aunt’s partner

By Belize Live News Staff: Police investigations into the shooting death of Wilson Hernandez have led to the formal arrest of a 21-year-old woman from Belmopan.

On Tuesday, September 2, police charged Christy Guzman with Manslaughter in relation to the deadly incident that occurred on Sunday, August 31.

Police report that Hernandez was shot during a confrontation, and Guzman, who is reportedly the niece of Hernandez’s common-law partner, was taken into custody.

Guzman remains detained as the case progresses to court, where she will answer to the charge.

Police say the investigation is ongoing as they continue to piece together the circumstances leading up to the fatal shooting.
