By Belize Live News Staff: Police have formally arrested and charged 40-year-old teacher Fausto Burgos from Louisville Village, Corozal, following allegations of rape and sexual aggression against a minor.
The charges were filed after a detailed investigation into the matter, which included a medical examination that reportedly confirmed the victim had been violated.
According to police reports, the mother of the victim, a 17-year-old female student, alleged that Burgos had engaged in a non-consensual sexual relationship with her daughter between January and March of 2024. The victim’s mother’s account led police to open an investigation.
The evidence gathered, including a medical certificate, was forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecutions for review. Yesterday, police detained Burgos and formally charged him with three counts of rape and one count of sexual aggression. The charges reflect the gravity of the allegations and the evidence collected by investigators.
