Police seize unlicensed firearm in Placencia Peninsula stop

By Belize Live News Staff: Police on the Placencia Peninsula have detained two men after discovering an unlicensed firearm during a roadside stop on Friday. Officers stopped a Buick SUV driven by a 28-year-old man from Seine Bight Village, along with a passenger. An initial search turned up nothing illegal, but police noted the vehicle’s insurance and license sticker were expired.

The vehicle was impounded, and a more thorough inspection led to the discovery of an unlicensed 9mm pistol loaded with seven live rounds. Both men remain in custody while investigations continue. No charges have been filed at this time.
