By Belize Live News Staff: The Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) of Belize has officially announced the appointment of Mrs. Marilyn Gardiner-Usher as its new Director, effective August 4, 2025.
This change in leadership comes following the departure of former Director Mrs. Leni Ysaguirre McGann, whose tenure concluded on July 31, 2025.
Gardiner-Usher brings extensive experience in financial intelligence, anti-money laundering, and regulatory compliance. With a proven record of leadership and public service, she is expected to steer the FIU through a new phase of strategic development and institutional strengthening.
Under her direction, the FIU will focus on enhancing Belize’s regulatory framework and preparing the country for the upcoming 5th Round Mutual Evaluation Process. The FIU and the Government of Belize remain committed to preserving the financial integrity of the nation and continuing their fight against money laundering, financial crime, and terrorist financing.
