By Belize Live News Staff: The Belize Tourism Board has announced a new international flight route to boost the country’s growing tourism sector: Spirit Airlines will begin nonstop service between Fort Lauderdale and Belize City starting November 21, 2025.
This marks Spirit’s first entry into the Belize market and is part of BTB’s ongoing strategy to expand Belize’s air connectivity. The route will operate three times per week—on Mondays, Fridays, and Saturdays—using the airline’s Airbus A320.
Tourism Minister Anthony Mahler welcomed the move, saying the new service will “enhance travel options for tourists and diaspora alike,” and support Belize’s economic development through increased visitor arrivals.
Spirit Airlines officials echoed that sentiment. “With its world-class water excursions and beautiful landscapes, Belize is an incredible addition to our growing Fort Lauderdale route map,” said John Kirby, VP of Network Planning.

The new route allows seamless onward travel from Spirit’s Fort Lauderdale hub to numerous cities across the U.S., Caribbean, and Latin America. It also positions Fort Lauderdale as Belize’s 23rd direct destination, following recent expansions from San Francisco and Montreal.
Promotional fares are available for booking from August 5 to August 11, for travel between December 3, 2025 and February 11, 2026 (blackout dates apply).
