Cabinet approves new national ID rollout and reforms to liquor laws

By Belize Live News Staff: Belize’s Cabinet has approved a full-scale rollout of the National Identification System following the successful completion of its pilot project. This marks a major step forward in the country’s digital transformation goals, aiming to improve service delivery and national efficiency.

A national onboarding strategy will now be developed to ensure every citizen is registered in a timely and effective manner.

In the same meeting, Cabinet also approved plans to modernize the Intoxicating Liquor License Act. The initiative seeks to improve the administration and regulation of liquor sales and consumption across the country. Officials say the overhaul will enhance enforcement and better align with current realities on the ground.
