Ministry of Blue Economy hosts disaster simulation to strengthen San Pedro’s Resilience

By Belize Live News Staff: The Ministry of Blue Economy and Marine Conservation, in collaboration with the FAO, San Pedro Town Council, NEMO, and other partners, hosted a validation workshop and disaster simulation in San Pedro on July 4, 2025.

The event was part of an FAO-supported project focused on strengthening climate resilience and disaster preparedness among fisherfolk and coastal communities. San Pedro’s vulnerability to hurricanes, flooding, and other climate threats makes local disaster planning a national priority.

The simulation tested the town’s response mechanisms, finalized the Community-Based Disaster Risk Management Plan, and empowered residents with the tools to act during emergencies.
