DFC accredited by Green Climate Fund

By Belize Live News Staff: The Government of Belize has announced that the Development Finance Corporation (DFC) is now an accredited entity of the Green Climate Fund (GCF). The approval was granted on July 1, 2025, during the GCF’s 42nd board meeting in Papua New Guinea.

With this accreditation, the DFC can access up to BZD 100 million per project to support climate-resilient investments in energy, infrastructure, health, food and water security, and more. This is expected to lower interest rates and boost access to financing for MSMEs and the public sector.

The multi-year accreditation process began in 2018 and included GCF readiness support from the Government of Belize to strengthen DFC’s capacity. Minister of State Dr. Osmond Martinez thanked the GCF and congratulated the DFC team for their commitment and professionalism.
