By Belize Live News Staff: Saturday’s weather is shaping up to be wet and stormy, with the Belize National Meteorological Service warning of cloudy conditions, frequent rainfall, and thunderstorms across much of the country.
Forecaster Catherine Cumberbatch says that moisture-laden easterly winds are contributing to the unstable weather pattern. The worst of the rainfall is projected to affect coastal regions and central Belize, while the south may experience scattered thunderstorms overnight.
Inland temperatures are expected to reach 88°F, while the coast will see a high of 85°F. Winds from the east to southeast at 10–20 knots are expected to make marine conditions moderately rough, with wave heights of 4–6 feet.
As such, a Small Craft Caution remains in effect. Operators of small vessels are urged to exercise caution and avoid venturing out during active thunderstorms.
Looking ahead to Sunday, conditions are expected to improve slightly, but the south may continue to see a few nighttime showers.
There are no signs of tropical cyclone activity in the Atlantic Basin at this time.
