By Belize Live News Staff: The rainy season is making its presence known today as the National Meteorological Service reports a surge in showers and thunderstorms spreading across Belize.
A relatively moist and unstable easterly airflow is creating favorable conditions for rainfall, with most of the country expected to experience thunderstorms and intermittent downpours throughout the day. Northern and central districts are likely to be hardest hit this afternoon, with the south seeing the most activity tonight.
Tonight’s forecast calls for continued rainfall and isolated thunderstorms, potentially intensifying in some areas.
Coastal waters are turning rough with winds expected to reach 25 knots. Marine operators should note that a small craft caution is in place due to strong gusts and 7 to 9-foot wave heights.
Officials are reminding residents, especially those in flood-prone zones, to stay alert and prepare for wet conditions through Thursday. As usual, the public is encouraged to monitor official forecasts and avoid traveling during heavy downpours.
