By Belize Live News Staff: The weekend is off to a damp start as the Belize Meteorological Service reports a moist easterly airflow sweeping across the country. This system is expected to bring scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms, particularly across central and northern regions today and in southern areas tonight.
Skies will feature a mix of sunshine and cloud cover throughout the day. Central Belizeans, including those in the Belize District, should prepare for on-and-off rain. Northern communities such as Corozal and Orange Walk may also experience brief thunderstorms during the day. By nightfall, the weather focus shifts south, where increased moisture will trigger additional storm activity.
The marine forecast warns of gusty easterly winds reaching up to 20 knots. Sea conditions will worsen from moderate to moderate-rough later today. Waves may increase up to 7 feet, so boaters and small craft operators should proceed with caution.
The heat remains relentless despite the showers. Temperatures inland will hit 93°F (34°C), with coastal highs around 87°F (31°C). Cooler conditions in the hills are expected, dipping to 66°F (19°C) at night.
Looking ahead, Monday’s forecast continues the rainy trend, with cloud cover and storm chances staying high, especially over the central and southern districts. Weather watchers can breathe easy for now though, as no tropical cyclones are predicted in the Atlantic Basin during the next 48 hours.
