By Belize Live News Staff: A brewing war of words between the Commissioner of Police, Dr. Richard Rosado, and PSU President Dean Flowers escalated after ComPol Rosado made vague comments suggesting Flowers might be linked to a high-profile criminal investigation.
During a recent media interview, Dr. Rosado said he was “asking the media to find out how a phone number connected to him [Flowers] is linked to a high-profile investigation involving public officers.”
Flowers swiftly responded, firmly denying any connection and challenging the Commissioner to prove otherwise.
“I have two numbers: 600-5110 and 615-3510. He cannot in any way, shape, or form associate those numbers with any criminal matter,” Flowers stated. “That’s defamatory, and I hope he’s ready to answer for it.”
Flowers also stood by earlier comments where he accused the police force of being weaponized against teachers and union members. He described Rosado’s actions as part of a broader campaign to silence dissent.
“The Commissioner is setting himself up. Did he take offense to that? I don’t know,” Flowers added, referencing a media report that misquoted him as calling Rosado “the worst.”
The PSU President made it clear he won’t back down and suggested legal action could be considered if the statements aren’t withdrawn.
