By Belize Live News Staff: The Ministry of Health and Wellness has confirmed a total of 22 measles cases across Belize as of May 30, 2025. Nine of these are laboratory-confirmed, while 13 are linked through epidemiological tracing.
Health officials revealed that 69 individuals presenting with fever and rash have been tested, with 66 samples already processed. This marks a significant moment in the ongoing public health response to a growing measles outbreak that has placed a spotlight on the country’s immunization efforts.
The Ministry continues to stress the critical importance of the Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR) vaccine, particularly for young children under the age of five and adolescents, who are more vulnerable to severe complications from the disease.
In a public statement, health authorities expressed appreciation to the population for cooperating with surveillance efforts and acknowledged the tireless work of frontline health professionals in both the public and private sectors.
Enhanced monitoring and vaccination outreach remain ongoing throughout the country, as Belize works to contain further spread of the virus.
