Dry, hot, and dangerous—Belize swelters under heat wave

By Belize Live News Staff: Belizeans are waking up to more extreme heat today as temperatures in inland areas are expected to peak at a scorching 101 degrees Fahrenheit, with no rain and little cloud cover in sight.

According to the National Meteorological Service, dry and seasonably warm weather will continue across the country today and into Wednesday. Skies will remain mostly sunny during the day, with only a few clouds developing by nightfall.

The persistent heat has prompted an official heat alert, especially for inland communities where the risks of heat exhaustion and dehydration remain high. Health officials are recommending that people stay indoors, drink plenty of water, and avoid any unnecessary outdoor activity.

The heatwave is also affecting Belize’s coastal areas, where temperatures are forecasted to reach 91°F, while the hills will see a high of 85°F. Overnight temperatures will stay warm across the country, offering minimal relief.

This ongoing heat pattern continues to strain public health systems and raises concerns over water usage, agriculture, and energy demand in affected areas.
