Police seize guns and drugs under State of Emergency

By Belize Live News Staff: Police say the ongoing State of Emergency has resulted in the seizure of 16 firearms, thousands of rounds of ammunition, over 3.3 kilograms of cannabis, and nearly 1 kilogram of cocaine.

Superintendent Jefferie Gabourel said the weapons were recovered during intense interrogations of detained individuals.

Commissioner of Police Dr. Richard Rosado confirmed that the firearms will be sent to the National Forensic Lab to determine any links to previous crimes.

He added that charges are likely to be brought against individuals involved.

The SOE continues in several areas as police ramp up efforts to combat crime.
