By Belize Live News Staff: Belize is experiencing mainly fair weather today, but changes are expected soon as a cold front moves closer to the region.
According to forecaster Tareek Matthews, sunny skies with a few cloudy spells will prevail through the day, with tonight expected to be partly to mostly cloudy. While isolated showers may occur, no widespread rainfall is expected today.
Inland areas are expected to see high temperatures near 98°F, prompting a heat alert for much of the country. Coastal areas will remain slightly cooler, with highs around 89°F. Residents, especially those living inland, are being advised to stay hydrated and avoid outdoor activities during the peak heat of the afternoon.
Over marine areas, winds will blow from the east to southeast at 10 to 20 knots, creating choppy sea conditions with wave heights between three to five feet. The sun rose at 5:22 this morning and will set at 6:15 this evening, with tides moving through expected highs and lows across the coast.
Looking ahead, weather models suggest that the cold front will begin to influence Belize’s weather late Saturday. Showers and thunderstorms, though isolated during the day, are expected to increase by evening and continue into Saturday night. Travelers and residents are advised to prepare for wet conditions over the weekend as the front moves through.
