By Belize Live News Staff: A Belize City man was shot and killed in broad daylight on Monday afternoon in Ladyville Village, prompting a police investigation into yet another deadly gun violence incident.
Around 12:20 p.m., police were alerted to gunshots on Yellow Tail Street. Ladyville police responded and discovered the lifeless body of 37-year-old Nelson Henry lying motionless with multiple gunshot wounds.
Initial investigations indicate that Henry was walking with his common-law wife near the corner of Yellow Tail Street and Cocrico Street when two men on a motorcycle approached. The passenger reportedly opened fire. Henry attempted to flee but was pursued and shot several more times before collapsing.
Scenes of Crime personnel processed the area and recovered several expended shell casings. Henry was transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH), where he was pronounced dead at 2:56 p.m.
The body now lies at the KHMH morgue awaiting a post-mortem examination. No suspects have been detained, and the motive behind the shooting remains unknown. Police continue their investigation.
