By Belize Live News Staff: The Belize Agricultural Health Authority (BAHA) has announced four exciting employment opportunities across the country, calling on suitably qualified Belizeans to apply. The positions include Plant Health Officer, Administrative Assistant, Canine Handler, and Food Safety Inspector — each playing a critical role in the protection and advancement of Belize’s agricultural and food safety systems.

The Plant Health Officer vacancy is based in the Orange Walk District and is open to individuals with an associate degree in Agricultural Science or Biology. The role involves pest surveillance, diagnostics, inspection and certification, and other plant health-related field work. Candidates must be willing to travel to remote areas and must hold a valid class “A” driver’s license.

For those with strong organizational and administrative skills, the Administrative Assistant position is available at BAHA’s Central Farm office. Applicants must hold an associate degree in Business Administration and have at least one year of relevant experience. Familiarity with QuickBooks, general accounting practices, and Microsoft Office applications is also required.

In the Belize District, BAHA is recruiting a Canine Handler to support quarantine inspections through the use of trained dogs. The position is open to candidates with either an associate degree in Agricultural Science and experience working with canines or a high school diploma with equivalent experience. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with animals and can adapt to varied environments.

The fourth opening is for a Food Safety Inspector, stationed in the Cayo District. Applicants must possess an associate degree in Life Sciences such as Biology, Chemistry, or Agriculture, along with at least two years of relevant experience. Knowledge of HACCP systems is considered a strong asset, and the ability to work in remote areas is essential.

Interested applicants must submit a letter of application, résumé, proof of qualification, official transcript, two recent reference letters, and a valid police record by Friday, May 9, 2025.

Applications should be addressed to:
