By Belize Live News Staff: In a scene straight out of a political thriller, Patrick Faber went from commanding the mic at the UDP press conference to facing criminal charges at Queen Street Police Station. After speaking at the Opposition’s event this afternoon, Faber was approached by officers waiting to detain him over an earlier confrontation at a police checkpoint.
Reports indicate Faber didn’t stick around. He exited the Biltmore in a private vehicle, but officers tailed him straight to the police station, where he was slapped with charges of Obstruction and Aggravated Assault against officer Dantae Smith.
Internal police notes allege that Faber resisted a traffic-related stop, leading to a heated back-and-forth that now has him facing serious charges. Not one to back down, Faber is filing a counter-complaint against the officer, signaling a legal showdown. His attorney and fellow UDP rep Godwin Haylock are standing by his side as the drama unfolds.
Belize’s political scene just got a lot hotter — and Faber’s battle is far from over.
