With a tradition that spans over 90 years, this race is one of the longest one-day cycling events in the Western Hemisphere.
The action started early this morning at 6:00 a.m. at the B.T.L. Park in Belize City, where cyclists sprinted out towards the hills of the west, racing towards San Ignacio Town. The route, which includes a half-way-point at the Hawkesworth Bridge in Cayo, presents a serious challenge for the competitors, testing both their endurance and mental fortitude.
With categories including Elite, Masters, Under 18, and Under 23, the Holy Saturday Cross Country Cycling Classic brings together riders of all levels. Spectators from all over the country have gathered to witness the excitement, and the finish line festivities in Belize City will include live music, food, and drinks, celebrating the cyclists’ efforts as they cross the finish line.
