Massive fire destroys three Central Transit Buses in Lord’s Bank

By Belize Live News Staff: A mysterious fire broke out early Sunday morning in Lord’s Bank Village, destroying three Central Transit buses and raising questions about the cause of the blaze.

The fire was reported at 1:35 a.m., and firefighters responded swiftly to contain the flames. Despite their efforts, two buses were burned beyond repair, while a third was heavily damaged.

The watchman on duty, who had been sleeping inside one of the buses, reported waking up to the sound of an engine starting. Moments later, he saw flames coming from the front of a bus. He tried to put out the fire, but it spread quickly, engulfing two other buses in the lot.

The buses, valued at $53,000, were owned by Central Transit Bus Service co-owner Bernardo Bennett. Two were insured, but the third had no coverage.

Police and fire officials have begun a full investigation, reviewing cellphone footage captured by witnesses and interviewing nearby residents. Investigators have not ruled out the possibility of arson, though the exact cause remains unclear.

As authorities continue their probe, they are asking anyone with information to step forward.
