By Belize Live News Staff: A Benque Viejo resident is demanding answers after claiming that police officers entered his property without a warrant, shot his dog, and removed it from the scene. The shocking allegations, made by Kieran Gonzalez, have sparked concern among animal lovers and raised serious questions about police conduct.
According to Gonzalez, the incident occurred between 4:30 AM and 5:00 AM when a police mobile unit arrived at his home. He was not at home at the time, but upon his return, neighbors informed him that officers shot his three-year-old bully breed dog and then took the body away in the back of their vehicle, allegedly to cover up evidence.
Gonzalez also claims that officers entered and searched his home without a warrant. Video footage allegedly shows police at the property at the time of the incident. He identified Corporal Requena from Benque Viejo as the officer in charge of the mobile unit involved.
“My dog was friendly, calm, and had been with me since he was a puppy. I don’t even know why they did this, but I just want to let people know what is happening here in Benque,” Gonzalez stated.
Concerned citizens are now calling for transparency and an official response from authorities
