By Belize Live News Staff: A tragic drowning incident occurred on Thursday evening, claiming the lives of two young men who were enjoying the Belize River near Guanacaste National Park.
According to authorities, the men were socializing in the area when they decided to go for a swim. Witnesses reported seeing them struggling in the water before disappearing beneath the surface. Despite efforts to rescue them, both men drowned. Their bodies were recovered just before 6:00 p.m.
Officials have not yet released the victims’ identities as investigations continue. Police are working to determine whether strong currents, sudden drop-offs, or other factors contributed to the incident.
