Belize immigration authorities arrest three foreign nationals wanted for child sex crimes

By Belize Live News Staff: Three foreign nationals wanted for child sex crimes in Guatemala have been arrested in Belize after allegedly entering the country illegally.

Authorities confirmed that the trio—two American citizens and one Canadian—were apprehended shortly after crossing the border, just a day before they were due to appear in a Guatemalan court to face charges involving the sexual exploitation of minors. The suspects face 12 counts of sexual offenses, with victims ranging in age from 11 to 18.

Guatemalan officials have requested Belize’s assistance in locating 12 minors believed to be held by a group operating within a Jewish community. It remains unclear whether the detained individuals are directly connected to the missing minors, but investigations are ongoing.

Police Commissioner Chester Williams acknowledged the arrests, emphasizing that Belizean authorities are cooperating with their Guatemalan counterparts. “We are committed to supporting this investigation and ensuring that justice is served,” Williams stated, without disclosing additional details due to the ongoing nature of the case.

The three suspects—identified as Avrahom Dinkel, Malka Chaim, and Moshe Yhida Alter—are now in custody pending legal proceedings, which could include extradition to Guatemala. The arrests have sparked further inquiries into potential human trafficking networks operating in the region.
