By Belize Live News Staff: Despite challenges and limited preparation time, Michael Peyrefitte, Chairman of the United Democratic Party (UDP), expressed strong confidence that his party will secure all 31 seats in the upcoming general election.
Speaking during an interview, Peyrefitte acknowledged that the UDP had only 30 days’ notice to prepare, as the party had initially anticipated the election to be held in November. However, he emphasized that the focus now is on candidates engaging directly with voters in their constituencies to promote the party’s message.
“I believe that the more practical thing to do at this point is for candidates to be in their constituencies selling the message of the party and making a difference,” Peyrefitte stated.
When asked whether the UDP plans to hold a large national convention, Peyrefitte did not rule it out but maintained that the immediate priority is local campaigning.
Pressed on how many seats he believes the UDP will win, Peyrefitte confidently responded, “All 31.”
When asked about the source of his confidence, Peyrefitte replied, “I’m a lifelong UDP, and I believe in myself, my party, and my people.”
Despite recent setbacks and public skepticism, Peyrefitte stood firm in his prediction, reiterating, “Listen, he asked me a question. I think we will win 31 seats.”
As the election approaches, the UDP’s ability to connect with voters in each constituency will be critical in determining whether Peyrefitte’s bold prediction holds true.
