By Belize Live News Staff: The Government of Belize has declared March 12, 2025, a public and bank holiday, ensuring all eligible voters have the opportunity to participate in the General Election. This announcement, made by the Ministry of Home Affairs and New Growth Industries, aligns with Belizean law, which allows for special holidays on key national events.
With 198,381 registered voters expected to head to the polls, removing work-related barriers could help boost voter turnout. Election days are often declared holidays to allow full public participation and prevent logistical challenges for those who might otherwise struggle to find time to vote.
The declaration comes at a crucial time, as Belizeans prepare to decide their next government. Political parties are ramping up campaigns, urging supporters to take advantage of their right to vote.
As the election approaches, citizens are reminded to verify their voter information, familiarize themselves with polling stations, and most importantly—make their voices heard on March 12.
