Gang leader fatally shot at football game, three others injured

By Belize Live News Staff: Chaos erupted on Friday night at Marion Jones Stadium during a BDFA football match between Reggae Boyz and Survivors, as gunshots rang out, sending spectators into a panic. The violence left four people shot, including Brandon Baptist, leader of the BLC gang, who was pronounced dead at the KHMH.

Eyewitnesses described the scene as terrifying, with one spectator stating, “There was nowhere to run, nowhere to hide!” The shooting occurred near the end of the first half, just as Survivors were awarded a penalty following a foul in the box.

Despite the presence of six police officers at the stadium, reports suggest they failed to detect the shooters before they opened fire. Authorities have not yet disclosed whether any arrests have been made or if the shooters have been identified.

The attack has once again raised concerns about gang violence spilling into public events, with many calling for stricter security measures at high-profile games. Investigations are ongoing, and officials are urging anyone with information to come forward.

This is a developing story, and further updates will follow as details emerge.
