The UDP expressed its appreciation for the dedication of the brave men and women serving in the BDF, while also highlighting the immense psychological, emotional, and physical pressures they endure in defense of Belize’s territorial integrity. The incident has prompted calls for stricter enforcement of disciplinary policies within the BDF and the provision of professional support to help soldiers manage stress, conflict, and anxiety.
In its statement, the UDP called for a comprehensive, transparent investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragedy. The party emphasized the need for accountability and a renewed focus on transforming the work environment and culture within the BDF to prevent future incidents.
