By Belize Live News Staff: A chaotic scene unfolded at JR’s Bar in Punta Gorda last night, as a dispute between a patron and a bartender escalated into a violent brawl. The bar, located just a block from the town’s police station, became the epicenter of flying bottles and heated altercations, leaving the establishment in disarray.
Witnesses reported that the altercation began when a male patron grabbed a woman working behind the bar by the arm. The bartender retaliated by throwing an object at the man, sparking a chain reaction of violence. As tensions flared, bottles were hurled across the bar, with one individual emptying the refrigerator and throwing its contents in a destructive frenzy.
Police in Punta Gorda have confirmed that one man has been detained in connection with the incident. Authorities are continuing their investigation and are urging additional witnesses to come forward with information. Surveillance footage from the establishment is also under review.
JR’s Bar remains closed as the investigation continues.
