By Belize Live News Staff: Belizeans can expect a bright and breezy day today, January 4, 2025, as a moderate northerly airflow influences the country’s weather. The Belize Meteorological Service forecasts sunny skies with cloudy intervals for most areas, while tonight will bring partly cloudy skies and isolated showers. Rainfall will primarily affect southern regions, where a few showers or periods of rain are anticipated.
Marine conditions will be moderately rough due to gusty north-northeast winds at 10-20 knots, accompanied by wave heights ranging from 4 to 7 feet. The Belize Met Service has issued a small craft caution, urging operators of small vessels to navigate carefully, especially in areas impacted by northerly swells.
Temperatures will remain pleasant. Coastal areas will reach highs of 82°F (28°C) and cool to 72°F (22°C) at night. Inland regions will peak at 84°F (29°C) during the day and dip to 66°F (19°C) overnight. In the hills, daytime highs will be around 68°F (20°C), with nighttime lows of 60°F (16°C).
The outlook for Sunday and Sunday night indicates fair weather will prevail across Belize, with only isolated showers expected. These calmer conditions should provide a reprieve from the gusty winds and rough seas.
Today’s tidal schedule includes a low tide at 7:31 AM, a high tide at 1:35 PM, another low tide at 7:22 PM, and a high tide early tomorrow morning at 1:22 AM. Sunrise was at 6:24 AM, with sunset set for 5:31 PM. The moon rose at 10:09 AM and will set tonight at 10:16 PM.
Forecaster Catherine Cumberbatch advises residents and travelers, especially those in southern areas, to prepare for isolated showers tonight. Small craft operators are reminded to adhere to safety measures due to occasionally gusty winds and locally rough seas.
