By Belize Live News Staff: A 17-year-old resident of San Ignacio was shot and killed on Wednesday morning during an alleged burglary in the Bointon Area of town. Police are investigating the incident, which occurred at approximately 8:30 am.

According to reports, the property owner encountered the teenager, identified as Huard Ramirez, inside a storage container on his property. The owner alleges that Ramirez attacked him with a piece of wood, prompting him to use his licensed firearm in self-defense.

Ramirez was reportedly shot in the face and collapsed a short distance from the container, where he was pronounced dead. Neighbors reported hearing screams but did not witness the incident.

The property owner has reportedly declined to cooperate further with police without the presence of his attorney.

Ramirez’s mother, who was seen at the scene visibly distraught, is demanding answers from the police.
