Police search for clues after Central Farm robbery nets $16,000

By Belize Live News Staff: Two armed men executed a brazen daylight robbery at the Central Farm Administration Building on Tuesday, escaping with over $16,000 in cash and three cell phones. The incident occurred around 12:54 p.m., leaving three female employees shaken but unharmed.

The robbers, both wearing black helmets, entered the building’s kitchen area where the employees – a clerk, a secretary, and a janitor – were taking a break. One suspect, clad in a fluorescent green traffic vest, brandished a 9mm pistol and ordered the women to the floor. His accomplice, similarly armed, kept watch.

The assailants then forced the employees to the post office section of the building, where the safe is located. Under duress, the clerk opened the safe, giving the robbers access to funds belonging to the Belize Post Office and the Ministry of Agriculture. The criminals absconded with $155 from the post office and a significantly larger sum of $16,046.60 from cattle sales revenue meant for the Ministry. They also snatched the women’s cell phones before making their getaway.

Witnesses reported seeing the two men fleeing the scene on a motorcycle, heading towards Georgeville Village. Police have launched an investigation but no arrests have been made at this time.
